Cuba will participate in the First Meeting of National Coordinators of CELAC

Anayansi Rodriguez, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs

Havana, March 4 (RHC)-- The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Coordinator of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) Anayansi Rodríguez, is heading the Cuban delegation that will participate in the First Meeting of National Coordinators of this regional integration mechanism.

According to a tweet by Mirta Granda, director of Multilateral Political Affairs of the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting will take place this Thursday, March 5, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, the country that assumed the pro tempore presidency of the organization last January 8.

During Mexico's inauguration in the role, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez reiterated his country's commitment to this mechanism of regional integration; he wished the Mexican country success in its performance and made a call "to face our common challenges in a united and cohesive way, respecting our differences.

CELAC constitutes an indispensable, legitimate, unitary and diverse mechanism for political coordination and integration, which brings together for the first time, under a common purpose, the 33 States of Our America.

The Community of Latin American and Caribbean States was founded on February 23, 2010, at the Latin American and Caribbean Unity Summit in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.
