Paris, March 20 (RHC)--The France-Cuba association has requested  French authorities to ask Cuba for support in the fight against the coronavirus SARS-Cov-2, through access to the drug recombinant interferon-alpha 2B.

In a letter addressed to President Emmanuel Macron and Health Minister Olivier Véran this Friday, the organization, founded in 1961, stated that the Cuban biotechnology product was successfully used in China to treat people infected with the pathogen responsible for the pandemic, reported Prensa Latina.

France-Cuba, together with the members of the French Solidarity Coordination Group, urged them to urgently request the collaboration of the Caribbean island because what matters today is saving lives.

Also, the  Cuba Linda solidarity association advocated earlier this week for Paris' request of the Cuban drug, which several countries affected by COVID-19 have successfully use.

Although it is not a vaccine to neutralize the dangerous microorganism, its effectiveness has been proven in the treatment of infected patients.

France-Cuba regretted the rapid spread of SARS-Cov-2 on French soil, where it surpassed on Thursday the 10,000 cases barrier (10,995) and 300 deaths (372).
