Canberra, July 17 (RHC)-- The Australia-Cuba Friendship Society announced that it is sending a digital appeal to the Caribbean island to help it deal with COVID-19.

The Australians shared in a virtual platform the campaign COVID-19: Help for Cuba, with which they collected 58 thousand dollars to contribute to medical assistance ON the island, which resists the consequences of the U.S. blockade.

In the call to collect the funds, the organization explains that the economic, commercial and financial siege imposed by Washington prevents Cuba from buying medical supplies and other products needed to contain the new coronavirus.

It also stresses that the Cuban people and government have always been the first to show solidarity by sending medical and other assistance to the rest of the world.

The Australia-Cuba Friendship Society recently declared its support for the proposal to award the Nobel Peace Prize to the Henry Reeve Medical Contingent for its contributions to health care in some thirty countries in the midst of the pandemic.

Furthermore, this Friday, as every 17th of the month, the members of that association demonstrated in front of the U.S. consulate in the city of Perth -- demanding the end of the U.S. blockade and other aggressive policies against Cuba.
