Washington, January 16 (RHC)-- Another unjust unilateral measure against Cuba was adopted on Friday by the outgoing Trump administration, which sanctioned the Minister of the Interior (MININT), Brigadier General Lázaro Álvarez Casas, arguing alleged violations of human rights committed under his command.

A statement published on the official website of the State Department, signed by its secretary, Mike Pompeo, accuses the Cuban institution of allegedly keeping in prison at least one hundred prisoners who, according to that federal agency, are in jail for political reasons.

However, on several occasions, the Caribbean nation's authorities have rejected these allegations, since Cuba is a state governed by the rule of law, and those who are convicted are because they have violated Cuban law with criminal actions of various kinds.

The unjustified and unilateral measure against MININT adds to the announcement made this week by the US government to shamefully include Cuba in the list of nations that sponsor terrorism.
