Scientists pointed out that the pandemic should have a plateau behavior characterized by high numbers of daily positive and active cases in the coming days.

Havana, June 1 (RHC)-- Experts linked to the fight against Covid-19 in Cuba considered Tuesday that the Caribbean country will keep a similar spread rate of  SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in the coming days.

During a meeting of the specialists with President Miguel Díaz-Canel and Prime Minister Manuel Marrero, they pointed out that the pandemic should have a plateau behavior characterized by high numbers of daily positive and active cases, a local television report stated.

The dean of the Mathematics and Computer Science  Faculty of the University of Havana, Raul Guinovart, said the situation would also be marked by the wide dispersion of sick people throughout the national territory.

He explained that a favorable aspect is the increase in the number of recovered patients and added that in the longer term, there should be a gradual and slow decrease in the number of SARS-CoV-2 positive cases, as well as in the number of related deaths.

He commented that this trend should be accentuated as the health interventions with the Abdala and Soberana 02 vaccine candidates advance, according to the Director of Science and Innovation of the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) Ileana Molares, is progressing satisfactorily, with rigor and responsibility.

In this regard, she praised the effort made by the country to maintain almost three thousand certified clinical sites and some 30 thousand professionals and students trained in good practices involved in the intervention.
