Havana, July 23 (RHC)-- Vaccination with Abdala will begin next July 29 for pregnant women and nursing mothers, local media reported.
Vaccination will be given to pregnant women 19 years of age and older, who are in the second and third trimester of pregnancy, and to women who are breastfeeding, Dr. Noemi Doris Causa Palma, head of the Maternal and Child Care Program (PAMI) of the Ministry of Public Health said.
"They will be duly summoned through the family doctor's and nurse's office, in the different health areas. Organizational measures are currently being taken for the proper development of this new stage within the Cuban vaccination strategy," he added.
Previously certified vaccination centers will be selected in all the municipalities, said the specialist, who insisted that both pregnant women and nursing mothers will receive all the information in a timely manner.
During the immunization, the same actions established for the health intervention will be maintained, such as the initial evaluation and observation for one hour after the vaccination, added Dr. Causa Palma.
