Havana, October 7(RHC)-- Floral offerings by Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, and the people of Cuba led Wednesday a pilgrimage to Havana’s  Colon cemetery in tribute to the victims of the Cubana airliner bombed off  Barbados 45 years ago.

Workers from Cubana airlines, the sports sector, and a representation of Havana residents, were on hand for the event that took the lives of 73 people, among them 57 Cubans.

Speaking at the ceremony, the President of the Sports Institute, Osvaldo Vento, pointed out that this crime is an expression of an aggressive policy with manifestations in the current campaigns of lies, media lynching, and incitement to vandalism orchestrated from the United States.

He argued that this action cut short the dreams of the 24 members of the youth fencing team who were returning to Cuba with all the titles they had won in the Central American and Caribbean Championship.
