Cuban Health Workers in Brazil to Arrive in Cuba for Vacation

Havana, July 2 (RHC) -- A total of 1,214 Cuban physicians offering their services in Brazil will arrive in Havana this week on different flights to begin their vacations, according to an annoucement by the Public Health Ministry (MINSAP).

In an exclusive interview with ACN, Doctor Henry Carreño, first deputy director of the Central Unit of Medical Cooperation of the MINSAP, explained that these physicians were the first ones to travel to the South American nation in August and September, 2013, as part of the program “More Doctors,” which includes over 11,000 from the Caribbean island.

The specialist specified that, at present, there are more than 50,000 Cuban voluntary workers in 66 countries, among them Venezuela, Bolivia, Haiti, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Belize and El Salvador.

He pointed out that 30 of these 66 nations are from Africa, 24 from South and Central America, and the rest from Asia and Oceania.
