London, November 5 (RHC)-- Cuba's Minister of Tourism, Juan Carlos García, met with British authorities to discuss the reopening of borders on the Caribbean island and the potential for boosting bilateral trade, diplomatic sources informed Friday.

According to the Cuban embassy in the United Kingdom, Garcia met with the minister for Europe and the Americas of the Foreign Ministry, Wendy Morton. He conveyed to her Cuba's willingness to address, based on mutual respect, issues on which both countries have different points of view.

Before the meeting with the representative of the British government, the head of Tourism of the Caribbean island participated in the World Travel Market, which attracted tour operators and travel agents from hundreds of countries to London after the stiff stop imposed last year by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Speaking to Prensa Latina during the fair, García affirmed that the Cuban market is ready to receive foreign visitors safely and with all the corresponding sanitary protocols once the borders are reopened on November 15.
