Havana, December 10(RHC)--The U.S. economic, financial and commercial blockade is the most prolonged and massive violation of the human rights of the entire people of Cuba, the island's president Miguel Díaz- Canel Bermúdez, said on the occasion of the celebration of International Human Rights Day.

The Cuban leader acknowledged that the Cuban people would defeat that violation with resistance and creativity.

On previous occasions, Diaz-Canel has asserted that the measure is and will be a fundamental obstacle against our development plans. Still, it is not an insurmountable impediment, and the Cuban people will continue to fight against it with the international community's support.

As every year, Cuba celebrates this day despite obstacles, aggressions, blockades, and manipulations, highlighting the efforts of the Caribbean island in guaranteeing all the rights of its citizens.

Human Rights Day is celebrated every December 10, commemorating the day on which, in 1948, the United Nations General Assembly approved the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
