Havana, December 11 (RHC)-- Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez condemned Friday the harassment by the United States against WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange and warned about the consequences of that action for the world.

The top representative of Cuban diplomacy wrote that with the persecution against Assange, the United States sought revenge and punishment for revelations of its war crimes and interference practices.

Rodriguez pointed out that Washington seeks to punish anyone who denounces its criminal conduct, which would have serious consequences for journalism and freedom of expression.

The High Court of Justice of the United Kingdom accepted the appeal of U.S. prosecutors against a previous verdict that denied the extradition of Assange. In addition, the founder of WikiLeaks has been imprisoned since 2019, when the government of Lenín Moreno revoked his diplomatic protection
