Havana, December 23 (RHC)-- Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero acknowledged the work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MINREX), on the occasion of its  62nd anniversary.

On Twitter, the head of government said that the work of the Foreign Ministry, which "represents and defends the principles of our country in the international arena, is worthy of recognition."

Also, on that platform, the head of the MINREX, Bruno Rodríguez, stressed that they are more than six decades of dignity, loyalty, and commitment to the people and the Revolution.

"Revolutionary diplomacy thus celebrates a new anniversary, with pride and determination to continue defending Cuba and our project," the minister wrote.

The Foreign Ministry was constituted on December 23, 1959, by Decree of the Revolutionary Government, replacing the Ministry of State, an agency created since the first U.S. occupation (1899-1902) and designed to serve the interests of the U.S. Government.

Its mission is to implement Cuba's foreign policy and promote the principles, values, and interests that sustain it, in defense of International Law, respect for the sovereignty and self-determination of peoples and the equality of States, in addition to the rejection of interference in the internal affairs of the United States.
