Havana, May 201(RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel received the head of the Lao People's Supreme Court, Viengthong Siphandone, national television reported.
At the meeting, held Friday at the Palace of the Revolution, Diaz-Canel expressed his satisfaction with the visit of the Laotian representative and recalled the historic brotherly relations between the two nations.
The President thanked the Southeast Asian country for its support in the fight against the economic blockade imposed by the United States on the island for more than 60 years.
According to the source, the head of state sent greetings to the secretary-general of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and President of the Republic, Thongloun Sisoulith, his prime minister, and the rest of the leadership of the government of that nation. He reiterated the invitation to the Laotian leader to visit Cuba.
For his part, Viengthong thanked the Cuban President for his welcome and highlighted the excellent state of ties between both parties and governments, which, he said, are based on the defense of national sovereignty and the people.
She also highlighted Cuba's collaboration in the field of health and described as profitable the exchanges held in the context of the X International Meeting on Justice and Law 2022, which concluded today in the Cuban capital.
