Pyongyang, Nov 30 (RHC) A representative of the Cuban embassy in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea visited the permanent exhibition of gifts on the occasion of the upcoming anniversary of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of the Caribbean Island.

Led by Ambassador Jesús Aise Sotolongo, the group paid tribute to President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il in front of their statues and later learned details about the gifts exhibited as a heritage of the Asian country, the state news agency ACNC reported.

On December 2, Cuba's Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) will celebrate 66 years of being created to defend the sovereignty, peace, and security of the Caribbean country.

The military institution has its origins in the union of the Rebel Army, led by Fidel Castro, which together with the people achieved the triumph of the Revolution on January 1, 1959, and the National Revolutionary Militias, formed a few months later by workers, peasants, students, and university students.

In addition to its preparation for a military response to aggression, the FAR has a structure that allows its participation in activities for the economic-social development of the country and environmental protection, according to its website. (Source: PL)
