Cuban President reiterates the need for international solidarity

Havana, Jan 29 (RHC) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Sunday repeated the need for international solidarity and the promotion of dialogue to resolve conflicts worldwide.

On his Twitter account, the president pointed out that “the solidarity that we have given and submitted as an inalienable value and principle of the Revolution could not be blocked, just as the peoples’ awareness cannot be blocked. Let us insist on the most difficult task: balancing the world.”

Díaz-Canel attached to his message a material published in the Granma newspaper on the final day of the V International Conference 'For the Balance of the World', held at the Havana Convention Palace, where he delivered the closing remarks.

The meeting, held from January 25 to 28, commemorated the 170th anniversary of the birth of José Martí, Cuba's National Hero, with the attendance of more than 1,100 delegates from 86 countries.

The Cuban head of state evoked the legacy of the Apostle of our independence, who perceived the need to globalize solidarity and dialogue in the face of nascent imperialism, promoter of hatred, and human miseries.

In his closing speech, he also highlighted how the deep faith in their ideals and the truth as a guide allowed Martí, and later Fidel, to mobilize consciences, make the revolution and sustain it.

"They both spoke and wrote tirelessly for their contemporaries and ours, for their time and this one. Let us insist, then, on the most difficult task and the one to which they devoted all their energies: to balance the world," the Cuban president concluded.
