San Juan, Feb 18 (RHC) The Cuba Solidarity Committee (CSC) in Puerto Rico held a Solidarity Bohemia in Old San Juan to demand the end of the blockade imposed by the United States against the Caribbean nation.

The activity, which took place in front of the building that occupies the U.S. federal court in the old city, was attended by several poets and singers.

The event served to denounce the blockade maintained by the government of Washington against the Cuban people for more than 60 years, as well as to salute the recent return to Puerto Rico of Ana Belén Montes and to celebrate the birthday, on this date, of the poet Julia de Burgos (1914-1953).

Artists Alí Tapia, Emanuel Emilio, Teresa Sepúlveda, Raquel González, and Ariel Bermúdez participated in Bohemia Solidaria, organized this time by the CSC and the group Poetas en Marcha.

The poets Solimar Ortiz Jusino, Luis Enrique Romero, Juan Camacho, Luis Torres Muler, Eneida Rodríguez, and William Pérez Vega also participated.

The activity was part of the Continental Day Against the Blockade of Cuba, which is held every 17th of the month in several countries since the siege imposed by the U.S. government against the island affects its population in vital areas for its development such as economy, health, and agriculture.

The CSC of Puerto Rico presided over by Milagros Rivera, condemns the blockade as a criminal act that aims to "bring the Cuban people to their knees, a purpose they will not achieve". (Source: PL)
