Havana, Feb 22 (RHC) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez on Tuesday strongly condemned the surging world economic inequality that keeps poverty, hunger, and social exclusion going.

On Twitter, the Cuban foreign minister alluded to a report by the non-governmental organization Oxfam, which revealed that “out of every $100 of world wealth generated in the last ten years, $54 ended up in hands of the world´s 1% richest people and only $0.70 were received by the world´s 50% poorest population”.

According to Oxfam, climate change, the Covid-19 pandemic, and other elements caused an unprecedented crisis, in which millions of human beings are currently facing hunger, inflation, and lack of access to necessities.

Billionaires´ wealth climbed to $2,7B a day.

The text specified that poverty grew for the first time in 25 years, but the richest became dramatically richer, and corporate profits reached record levels. (Source: Prensa Latina)
