Cuban president says more opportunities must be created for young people

Havana, March 9 (Web Network)-- "The aspiration of the Revolution is that no young Cuban is disconnected from study and work. We must generate more opportunities for young people," emphasized Thursday the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (CC-PCC) and President of the Republic Miguel Díaz-Canel, in Santa Clara.

Together with the seven remaining candidates for deputies to the Parliament for the capital city of the central province of Villa Clara, the head of state held an emotional meeting with young people who for years were away from study and work.

In the exchange, boys and girls shared their stories, marked by social and family disadvantages, and they did it in a transparent way.

Some of them spent 10 or 15 years disconnected from their studies, and found opportunities in nursing or pedagogy courses.

For his part, the first secretary of the PCC in the province considered that "the Revolution itself has to be an opportunity for all young people."

In another moment of the tour of the city also known as the city of Marta (Abreu) and Che (Comandante Ernesto Guevara de la Serna), the eight candidates for deputies talked with federated women, who are workers, housewives and retirees.

At the meeting, the women voters talked about the problems that affect their daily lives: high food prices, insufficient checkbooks for retirees and widows, business hours that do not favor working women, among other issues of interest.

Earlier in the day, Díaz-Canel and other candidates for deputies visited the textile company 'Desembarco del Granma', inaugurated on December 2, 1979 by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz (1926-2016); the Unidad Empresarial de Base 'Osvaldo Herrera', dedicated to the production of asphalt and construction materials, and the Recreational Complex 'La Minerva'.
