Havana, March 18 (RHC) The members of the France Cuba association, in the annual general assembly that began today in Paris, ratified their solidarity with the island and their rejection of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States.
Various interventions addressed the situation of the Antillean nation under the impact of the siege, in a forum that reviewed the activities of the last year and the financial state of the senior organization of solidarity with Cuba in France, which has more than six decades of work.
The meeting scheduled until tomorrow with the participation of delegates from different departments will elect the Bureau, the Steering Committee and the Presidency of the association, which will issue a final declaration of support for the Caribbean country and condemnation of the blockade.
Regarding Washington's aggressive policy, the plenary of the assembly agreed to accompany a European petition launched by the Cuba Coopération France (CubaCoop) association with a call to action against the extraterritoriality of the blockade and its consequences.
The initiative, also supported by organizations from Spain and Italy, demands that the European Union and the governments of its member countries not give in to pressure and apply their legal mechanisms so that banks and companies can interact with the island without fear of US sanctions.
During the first day of the forum based in Saint Denis, in the Parisian Region, France Cuba discussed the results of its activities in 2022, from solidarity actions to participation in events. Some important gestures include the donation of 200 kilograms of medicines, the sending of money in response to the fire at the Matanzas Supertanker Terminal and the devastating passage of Hurricane Ian, statements condemning the blockade and the demand for the US government to remove Cuba from the unilateral list of countries sponsoring terrorism.
