Meeting of Foreign Ministers at the XXVIII Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government

Santo Domingo, March 25 (RHC) Cuba expressed its gratitude at the Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the 28th Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government in the Dominican Republic for the support of all Ibero-American nations for the call to put an end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the U.S. government for more than 60 years.

The National Coordinator for the Ibero-American Conference and Director General of Multilateral Affairs and International Law of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Rodolfo Benítez Verson, described this policy as criminal and illegal, which causes multiple affectations on the Cuban people and violates the United Nations Charter and International Law.

During his speech, the diplomat expressed his gratitude on behalf of the Cuban people and government for the unanimous demand of the member states to exclude Cuba from the U.S. government's unilateral list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism.

Benítez Verson advocated for greater and better inclusive cooperation for the benefit of the peoples while emphasizing the urgency of building a more just, sustainable, democratic, and equitable international order that addresses the rights and needs of developing countries and corrects the profound asymmetries that exist.

This meeting is the second most important decision-making body after the Summit and is held every year to follow up on the mandates issued by the Heads of State and Government at the previous Summit.

The Cuban delegation also includes Eugenio Martínez, General Director for Latin America and the Caribbean of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other officials of the Cuban Foreign Ministry. (Source: ACN)
