India and Cuba assess joint work in information technologies

Havana, Mar 26 (RHC) Cuban Deputy Minister of Communications Grisel Reyes Leon on Sunday highlighted the possibilities of joint work between Indian and Cuban companies to enter the Latin American technology market.

The Cuban official headed a delegation of a dozen experts who participated at a forum on information and communication technologies sponsored by the Indian Economic Trade Organization (IETO), with the presence of some local institutions.

In statements to Prensa Latina, the Cuban deputy minister pointed out that her stay here aims to explore new opportunities that will allow both nations to work on joint projects. “Indian companies have a high level and we intend to complement, integrate and articulate based on the country’s potential to train personnel in the information technology sector,” she asserted.

Among the areas of interest, the Cuban expert mentioned artificial intelligence, big data, and blockchain, among others, in whose sectors both countries could be linked without difficulty.

She also referred to the possibilities of investment in the field of technological science parks to create capacities to promote the development of innovative technological solutions according to the digital transformation process that Cuba is going through.

The Cuban delegation might also meet with Arvind Kumar, director general of Software Technology Parks of India (STPI); Railways, Communications, Electronics, and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw; and the Head of State for Communications, Devusinh Chauhan.

They will also hold talks with the executive of the Indian Institute of Technology, Sapnesh Lala, and the president of the National Association of Software and Services Companies, Debjani Ghosh.

The Cuban representatives will attend the opening of the International Information Technology and Communications Technology Exhibition and Conference, Indiasoft 2023, on Monday, a meeting that has been held consecutively since 2001 and has become a favorite meeting point for Indian technology developers and consumers around the world.

This three-day event, which is considered the largest technology meeting in India, will take place at the capital’s Pragati Maidan fairgrounds with the participation of more than 500 delegates from at least 60 countries, as well as 1,500 electronics, hardware, and national information technologies exhibitors.
