Cubans in Venezuela expressed condolences for workers who died in Matanzas
Havana, April 10 (RHC) - The National Board of Directors of the Association of Cubans Resident in Venezuela (Accreven) expressed its deepest regret and heartfelt condolences to the relatives, friends and colleagues of the workers who died in an accident in Matanzas, western of the island.
Lázaro Montero Pita (57 years old) and Alexis Labrada Junco (47 years old) lost their lives in a tragic accident that occurred at the Antonio Guiteras Thermoelectric Power Plant (CTE). Both workers, along with two others who were injured, were carrying out maintenance work on Friday inside a chimney at the CTE when a seven-meter wall collapsed.
For several uninterrupted hours, specialized forces from the Fire Department, the Red Cross, workers from the thermoelectric plant itself, Public Health personnel and the Ministry of the Interior contributed to the rescue and salvage efforts.
Countless expressions of solidarity from the people and the authorities came through social networks after the unfortunate event. (Source: Prensa Latina)
