Partisan delegation from Havana fulfills intense agenda in Hanoi

Havana, Jun 10 (RHC) The first secretary of the Cuban Communist Party in Havana, Luis Antonio Torres Iríbar, and the delegation that accompanies him today fulfilled an intense work schedule in Hanoi and in the Me Linh municipality.

Early in the morning, the partisan delegation paid homage to the hero of Vietnamese independence, President Ho Chi Minh, in the Mausoleum where his mortal remains rest. There they were received by the head of the Command, Colonel Nguyen Hoang An.

Torres Iríbar, for his part, expressed the honor that it was for him and his entourage to be present "in a sacred place of the Vietnamese homeland and of all the revolutionaries of the world".

Subsequently, the Cuban delegation laid a wreath at the Monument of Heroes and Martyrs, from where they left for the municipality of Me Linh, to visit a model entity of local agro-economic development.

In a meeting with leaders of the territory, the Cuban delegation learned that this small municipality, with about 25,000 inhabitants, prioritizes the cultivation of vegetables, fruits and flowers, in all cases with the application of advanced technologies, which allows the annual growth of 3 to 3.5 percent.

Me Lihn has an industrial park where more than 300 companies are based, which contribute 80 percent of the town's annual income, estimated at around 10 billion dollars. The territory also places emphasis on the care and preservation of the environment and proper urban planning, with the intention of becoming a future tourist destination.

In the afternoon, Torres Iríbar and his entourage toured the Hanoi National Cancer Hospital and visited the modern system of supermarkets and shopping centers in Time City. The partisan delegation will visit the city and Ha Long Bay on Sunday, and on Monday it will travel to southern Ho Chi Minh City,  from where it will return to Havana on the 14th. (Source: PL)
