Havana, July 1 (RHC)-- The president of Bolivia, Luis Arce, has arrived in Cuba in compliance with an invitation from his counterpart, Miguel Díaz-Canel, for an official work-visit.

According to Bolivian law, before the departure Arce handed the baton of command to the vice president of the Plurinational State, David Choquehuanca.

The president of the South American country was received by Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez, who welcomed him in a message posted on his official Twitter social network account.

"We received on a working visit the President of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, brother Luis Arce, who was invited by President Miguel Díaz-Canel to continue exchanging on bilateral and international issues," the foreign minister wrote in his tweet.

The two member countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Trade Treaty of the Peoples (ALBA-TCP) maintain a dialogue that both parties describe as intense since they reestablished diplomatic ties "frozen" by the de facto government of Jeanine Áñez (2019-2020).

Both presidents held a meeting on March 25th of this year on the sidelines of the XXVIII Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, in a meeting in which they reaffirmed the relations of mutual cooperation.

The previous weekend, the Bolivian government sent 65 tons of humanitarian aid to Cuba, affected by torrential rains, floods and the economic, commercial and financial blockade maintained by the United States for six decades.

Díaz-Canel thanked for this gesture on his Twitter account and assured that this donation is a sign of the friendship between the two peoples and governments.
