The Cuban delegation to the Fête de l'Humanité has an intense agenda

Havana, Sept 16 (RHC) The Cuban delegation to the 83rd Fête de l'Humanité will participate today in several meetings and debates, after a busy first day of the political-cultural festival.

Led by deputy Elier Ramírez, member of the Central Committee of the Party and the Council of State, the group will be in a European forum of solidarity with the island, convened by the Cuba Coopération France association -CubaCoop.

MEPs and representatives of organizations from France, Spain, Italy, Germany and Belgium will address initiatives to strengthen the fight against the U.S. economic, commercial and financial blockade against the Antillean nation and the extraterritorial nature of that siege.

The delegation will also participate in events of the Cuba Linda, Cuba Si France and France Cuba associations, with the promotion of solidarity as their center.

This Friday at the start of the Fête de l'Humanité, Ramírez, ambassador to France Otto Vaillant, and to UNESCO, Yahima Esquivel, as well as other Cuban representatives fulfilled an intense agenda, which included meetings with the leaders of the French Communist Party (PCF), Fabien Roussel, and from La Francia Insumisa, Jean-Luc Mélenchon.

In the meetings, the former presidential candidates ratified their rejection of the blockade and received an update on the reality of the island and its challenges.

The day closed for Cuba with the launch by the PCF of a campaign against the US blockade. The objective of the initiative is to join forces in France and Europe to carry out concrete actions against Washington's aggressiveness towards the Caribbean nation, and encompasses both political solidarity and economic cooperation.

The day before, the photographic exhibition Fidel Castro and Sport and a space from the Prensa Latina news agency were inaugurated at the CubaCoop stand.

Víctor Fernández, president of CubaCoop; Raúl Fornés, first vice president of the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (Inder); and Roberto León Richard, president of the Cuban Olympic Committee, participated in the opening of the exhibition dedicated to Fidel.

During the various meetings, Congressman Ramírez and Ambassador Vaillant expressed their gratitude for the solidarity and condemnation of the blockade and the United States' inclusion of Cuba in its unilateral list of countries sponsoring terrorism. (Source: PL)
