Cuban parliamentary delegation carries out extensive program in Vietnam

Havana, Sept 18 (RHC) A delegation from the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba (ANPP), headed by its vice president Ana Mari Machado, is carrying out today in Hanoi an extensive program of meetings with senior Vietnamese leaders.

This Monday the Cuban deputies will be received by the vice president of the National Assembly (Parliament) of Vietnam, Tran Quang Phuong, and by the deputy prime minister Le Manh Khai, and will have a meeting with members of the Legislative Economic Commission.

The ANPP delegation will have a meeting on Tuesday at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and afterwards will travel to the province of Bac Ninh, where it will visit the aquatic food, vegetable oil and vaccine processing factories.

Mari Machado and her delegation arrived in Hanoi last Wednesday to participate in the Ninth World Conference of Young Parliamentarians, which was attended by more than 300 legislators from 75 international representations.

During their stay in the capital, they were received by the president of the National Assembly, Vuong Dinh Hue, who praised the growing bilateral ties with Cuba, manifested in the frequent exchange of visits and cooperation at many levels and different sectors.

Dinh Hue ratified his country's support for Cuba against the U.S. economic, financial and commercial blockade, and expressed his certainty that the exchange of experiences between the Vietnamese and Cuban legislatures will be more practical and effective.

The vice president of the Council of State of Cuba, for her part, thanked the National Assembly of Vietnam for the help provided during the Covid-19 pandemic and for supporting her country's entry as an observer in the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Association of Nations from Southeast Asia.

She also referred to the intention to organize, in the first half of 2024, a bilateral interparliamentary meeting that will have foreign policy as its central axis, and will also allow for reviewing compliance with the agreements signed between both countries.

The Cuban parliamentary delegation was also received by the new president of the Union of Friendship Organizations of Vietnam, Phan Anh Son, and paid a visit to the province of Ninh Binh. (Source: PL)
