Cuba advocates continuing to strengthen its relations with the EU

Havana, September 29 (RHC) The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez, stated this Friday on the social network X that his country advocates continuing to strengthen fruitful relations with the European Union (UE), prioritizing political dialogue, cooperation and development of economic-commercial ties.

Regarding the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties this September 29, the chancellor highlighted that these ties are based on the principles of equality, reciprocity and respect included in the Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement (ADPC).

Last May, the Third Joint Council between Cuba and the EU took place in Havana, with the participation of Josep Borrell, high representative of the community bloc for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, and Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, vice prime minister and head of Foreign Trade and Investment of Cuba.

At the meeting, both representatives reviewed objectives of mutual interest contemplated in the documents signed regarding collaboration and expansion of bilateral relations.

Borrell, also vice president of the European Commission, ratified his delegation's willingness to face the dialogues with frankness and a constructive will to continue advancing the rapprochements and bring the development projects to a successful conclusion.

The ADPC, signed on December 12, 2016 between Cuba and the EU, and which began to be implemented provisionally on November 1, 2017, has since constituted the regulatory framework for relations, establishing the bases for the development of stable, mutually beneficial and long-term ties.

Cuba established diplomatic relations with the European community on September 29, 1988, and has full diplomatic ties with its 27 member states. (Source: ACN)
