Wellington, September 16 (RHC) -- Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez wrapped up an official two-day visit to New Zealand on Monday after several meetings with political figures from the Oceanic country.

This is the first time that a Cuban high ranking official visited New Zealand, which reaffirms interest in deepening and consolidating bilateral relations.

Rodriguez met with the Governor General of New Zealand, Sir Jerry Mateparae, and the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Murray McCully and Trade, Timothy Groser, among others.

The Cuban Foreign Minister's visit responded to the invitation of his counterpart McCully, with whom Rodriguez resumed a dialogue begun in 2012 and continued during 2014, in separate visits to Cuba by the minister.

Bruno Rodriguez lead a Cuban delegation made up of Asia and Oceania Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Miguel Angel Ramirez, and the Ambassador of Cuba in New Zealand, Carmen Herrera.
