Tehran, December 4 (RHC) -- Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel expressed his appreciation in statements to the press, for welcoming his delegation and assured that this visit fulfills the promise made in Havana to come to Tehran before the end of 2023.

"This is a visit in which we give continuity to all the issues addressed during the Persian leader's visit to Havana last June and to the discussions held bilaterally in other multilateral forums," said Díaz-Canel.

This strengthens, diversifies and expands the interests and activities of collaboration and solidarity between governments and peoples, based on the respect and cordiality that dates back more than four decades, he said.

Díaz-Canel recalled that 22 years earlier, then President Fidel Castro visited Iran and ratified that this is a sister nation in the Middle East, with which higher goals can be established for the sake of scientific and social growth.

After fruitful talks, more than six cooperation agreements were signed in the areas of health, energy, agriculture, science and technology, and communications, based on a criterion shared by both rulers to take advantage of the creative potential and talent of both peoples, he said.

The COVID-19 confrontation brought the two countries closer with the joint work to create a vaccine against that pandemic and showed how collaboration in various fields of knowledge can be advanced.

He assured that with these strategies "we are going to deal a hard blow to the sanctions and blockades imposed by US imperialism, as assured by Iranian President Seyed Ebrahim Raisi", after the bilateral talks.

We have reaffirmed our strong condemnation of Washington's interference in the internal affairs of the Islamic Republic and uphold the legitimate right to sovereignty of the Persian people and government.

He appreciated Iran's stance against the blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba, he also thanked the support of the authorities of Tehran to the largest of the Antilles during its leadership at the head of the Group of 77 and China.

He praised the presence of Iran in the Brics group, as well as denounced Israel's aggressions against the Palestinians and especially the murder of children and women, while assuring that a cease-fire is necessary to establish the State of Palestine.

Díaz-Canel sent an embrace and greetings from the people of Cuba to all the people of Iran and said he was convinced that with the agreements reached today, it will be possible to advance in projects for the welfare of both countries.

Likewise, the president thanked the various expressions of hospitality and solidarity from the people of Iran to the people of Cuba.

Also before the press media, the Iranian president recalled that it had been more than 20 years since a Cuban president had traveled to Iran, and considered Díaz-Canel's visit as a turning point in relations and described the ties with Cuba as excellent and growing. (Source:PL)
