Havana, December 13 (RHC) -- Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez urged on Wednesday to respect the popular will in Guatemala, expressed in the results of the presidential elections.

Through his account on the social network X, Rodriguez reported that the Caribbean nation will be represented at the ceremony of transmission of the presidential command to the elected dignitary, Bernardo Arevalo.

The new Guatemalan president, who will take office on January 14, has denounced attempts to destabilize and interrupt the democratic process in his country, where the Attorney General's Office intends to annul the results of the elections.

Arevalo assured that the investigations have political overtones, at the same time that he described as absurd and illegal the actions of the Public Prosecutor's Office.

Different Guatemalan and international organizations coincided in deploring the maneuver, "which constitutes a clear intervention against the popular will expressed in the ballot boxes", they emphasized.  (Source: Prensa Latina)
