Havana, April 4 (RHC)--The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel predicted better prospects for the distribution of the standard family food basket for the months of April and May.
Appearing in the communication space 'From the Presidency', the Cuban leader shared this certainty with the audience after the arrival in Cuban ports of rice volumes, until June, and the existence of the necessary wheat to ensure the flour for the population's bread in the next quarter.
According to the Minister of Domestic Trade, Betsy Díaz, and the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Oscar Pérez-Oliva, there are signed contracts that guarantee the continuity of the commercialization of these demanded supplies.
The Minister of Domestic Trade added that in the month of April, coffee, oil, chicken, and rice volumes were favored by a donation from China and three other countries, which will allow to increase the delivery to consumers.
The head of state explained the enormous efforts made by the government to deliver the basic food basket without fractioning and uninterruptedly, while recalling the enormous pressures exerted by the U.S. blockade against the island.
This unilateral policy of Washington prevents access to essential financing to pay for products, applies sanctions to international suppliers and banks, which harms the welfare of the Cuban population (Source: Prensa Latina).
