Havana, June 11 (RHC) -- The member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the National Assembly of People's Power and the Council of State, Esteban Lazo Hernández, received, yesterday, in an official ceremony, his counterpart of the Assembly of the Republic of Mozambique, Esperança Laurinda Francisco Nhiuane Bias.

In the official talks, both parties reviewed the economic and social situation, "and we concluded that at the political level the cooperation is quite strong, but it is important that, at the parliamentary level, we can contribute to this cooperation," highlighted the distinguished visitor.

«We must remember that Cuba and the Cuban people have been our partners and friends for many years before the proclamation of our Republic, and Cuba has always been present in the most critical moments of Mozambique's development. For this reason, we want to reaffirm our support for the efforts that Cuba is making." 

Subsequently, she recognized the multifaceted support that the Island has provided to Mozambique, especially in the areas of education and health, over several decades, and recalled that the relations date back to Cuban support for the struggle for national liberation in Mozambique. and highlighted the significance for his people of the "hero and esteemed friend of Mozambicans: Commander in Chief Fidel Castro."

The head of the Cuban Parliament communicated the interest in strengthening interparliamentary relations between both nations, at the same time that he recalled "the sacred ties that unite our people as brothers, from an indelible common past."

Finally, he thanked Mozambique for supporting the demand for the end of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the Government of the United States of America, and for its support for the request to exclude Cuba from the unilateral list of States sponsoring terrorism. .

«Cuba will always be with the people of Mozambique, and we trust in the ability of its leaders to guarantee the economic development of the nation and maintain peace. Count on the support of Cuba, consolidating our brotherhood is a priority for current times," concluded Lazo Hernández.

Participating on the Cuban side were Ana María Mari Machado, vice president of the National Assembly of People's Power; Major General Víctor Rojo Ramos, president of the Cuba-Mozambique Parliamentary Friendship Group; Rolando González Patricio, José Luis Toledo and Félix Martínez Suárez, heads of the parliamentary committees on International Relations, Constitutional and Legal Affairs and Economic Affairs; and Jesús Rafael Mora and Sisay Caridad Poulout, director and official of the International Relations Directorate of the Cuban legislature, respectively.   (Source: Granma)
