Peruvian Trade Union Center Condemns U.S. for Terrorism against Cuba

Lima, Jul 10 (RHC) The General Confederation of Workers of Peru (CGTP) today pointed out the responsibility of the United States in a new terrorist attempt that was dismantled by the security forces of Cuba.

In a statement to Prensa Latina, the General Secretary of Peru's largest trade union center, Gerónimo López, pointed out that "this conspiracy is driven by US imperialism through stateless persons of Cuban origin who are bent on carrying out terrorist actions," he said.

He added that the Cuban people and government are an example of admirable dignity because for more than 60 years they have heroically resisted the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States and have also suffered terrorism sponsored by Washington.

"Cuba has faced the attempts of the U.S. intelligence services to promote attacks and create instability" with the aim of destroying the Cuban Revolution, he continued.

"The Cuban people, who are not exempt from the difficulties fundamentally caused by this criminal imperialist blockade, deserve our solidarity," López said, condemning the attempts to destabilize the island and reaffirming the CGTP's solidarity with the Cuban Workers' Central (CTC) and its government.

The union leader also called on the Peruvian workers and people and the international community to join in condemning the counterrevolutionary conspiracy against Cuba.

The Cuban authorities announced in recent days the arrest of an element of Cuban origin who illegally emigrated to the United States in 2019 and who entered the island clandestinely in 2023, bringing with him weapons and ammunition to recruit accomplices to carry out terrorist attacks.
