Cuba Welcomes Rejection of OAS Interference Resolution on Venezuela

Havana, August 1 (RHC) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez celebrated the firm stance of Latin American representatives who prevented the approval of a meddling resolution on the electoral process in Venezuela at the Organization of American States (OAS).

The Cuban Foreign Minister wrote on the social network X that "dignified representatives of Our America prevented the United States from adopting a meddling resolution on Venezuela in the discredited OAS, which urged the Venezuelan electoral authority to take unacceptable actions.

The destabilizing actions must stop so that Venezuela and our region remain in peace," the Foreign Minister of the largest Antillean Island demanded. According to media reports, this Wednesday the OAS did not reach the necessary majority of its member states that wanted to "demand transparency" from the government of President Nicolás Maduro, who was declared the winner by the National Electoral Council of his country in the Venezuelan presidential elections held this Sunday, July 28.

The draft proposal of the regional organization, questioned for its biased actions in the elections of Latin American countries with leftist governments, was rejected by its Permanent Council for lack of consensus among its 34 members.

During the extraordinary session, five nations, including Venezuela, rejected the convening, while the document received 17 votes in favor, zero against and 11 abstentions. (Source: Prensa Latina)
