Homage to Fidel Castro in Santiago de Cuba

Santiago de Cuba, Aug. 13 (RHC) Revolutionary Commander Guillermo Garcia Frias and a delegation of the people of Santiago de Cuba today paid tribute to Fidel Castro at the Santa Ifigenia Patrimonial Cemetery in this city to commemorate the 98th anniversary of the birth of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.

 García Frías, hero of the Republic of Cuba and the first peasant to join the rebel forces in the Sierra Maestra, placed a bouquet of flowers in front of the monolith that holds the ashes of Fidel Castro, on the occasion of today's commemoration of the 98th anniversary of his birth on August 13, 1926.

Also paying tribute to Fidel were Beatriz Johnson, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, member of the Council of State and First Secretary in the province, Governor Manuel Falcón, as well as relatives of the leader and leaders of social organizations.

During the day, the workshop "Fidel and the Women's Revolution" will be held at the Vilma Espin Memorial Museum; the inauguration of the photo exhibition "Fidel Vive" (Fidel Lives) by Mexicans Eduardo Agüero and Nélida Torres will take place at the Santiago headquarters of the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples, ICAP.

The Park of Dreams also organizes various recreational activities for children, and the young participants of the summer camp reserve a bonfire for the night.

The day before, renowned and new artists, together with the amateur movement, honored the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution with two cultural gala events, one in Mangos de Baragua and the other in the central Plaza de Marte.

Born on August 13, 1926 in Biran, Holguin, Fidel Castro maintained a permanent bond with the people and a boundless dedication to the cause of the Revolution, leaving an indissoluble mark that serves as an inspiration to the men and women of the Antillean nation and the entire world.
