Latin American and Caribbean Brigade pays tribute to Fidel Castro

Artemisa, Aug. 15 (RHC) The 29th Latin American and Caribbean Brigade of Solidarity with Cuba paid tribute to Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz on the 98th anniversary of his birth.

At the Julio Antonio Mella International Camp in Caimito, the 57 brigadists from El Salvador, Peru, Colombia, Argentina, Ecuador, Mexico and the Dominican Republic issued a statement condemning the economic, financial and commercial blockade that the U.S. government has maintained against the island for more than 60 years and rejecting its inclusion in the false list of state sponsors of terrorism.

The declaration also demands the return of the territory of Guantanamo, illegally occupied by a U.S. naval base against the sovereign will of the Cuban people, and advocates the preservation of the region as a zone of peace.

The vice-president of the Instituto de Amistad con los Pueblos (ICAP), Victor Gaute Lopez, expressed, "You have arrived at a special moment, understand that you are a reinforcing detachment for the people of Cuba".

The speaker said that Fidel's ideas are our guide, the work he left us continues every day, and invited the brigadistas to participate in the Latin American and Caribbean Meeting and the first face-to-face meeting of the Continental Solidarity Network in 2025 in Mexico.

The brigadistas concluded their visit to Cuba with a tribute to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz.
