Cuba's foreign minister firmly rejected the decision of the Israeli parliament to ban the activities of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees
United Nations, October 29 (RHC) -- Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez firmly rejected the decision of the Israeli parliament to ban the activities of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA).
The top representative of Cuban diplomacy stressed in his account on X that this action violates the Charter of the United Nations, International Law, and will further increase the suffering of the people of Palestine.
On Monday, the Israeli Parliament (Knesset) approved two laws that prohibit the activities of UNRWA, in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem.
The text prohibits UNRWA from having any representation, providing services or carrying out activities directly or indirectly within the territory occupied by Israel.
This measure will severely reduce the agency's activities in Gaza and the West Bank, given the dependence on coordination with the Israeli authorities.
UNRWA currently provides vital services, such as education and health, to millions of Palestinians, especially in Gaza and the West Bank, and will find it very difficult to be able to work without coordination with the Israeli authorities, due to the lack of visas or entry permits.
The agency has more than 30 thousand employees, who Israel accused without presenting conclusive evidence, of being involved in the attacks of October 7, 2023. (Source: PL)
