Regional workshop on film projects begins in Cuba
Havana, Nov 30 (RHC) The Animation Studios of the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC), will launch today in Havana the 8th Workshop on the Development of Cinematographic Projects for Central America and the Caribbean of the Ibermedia Program.
The inauguration of this event marks the start of preparations for the 45th edition of the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema in Havana, which will take place from December 5 to 15.
Sixteen projects are taking part in the workshop, which will be mentored by outstanding filmmakers, including the Cuban director Fernando Pérez, who has won the National Film Award. The workshop will also be led by the cinematographer and producer Everardo González from Mexico and the producer Gema Juárez from Argentina.
The Juan Padrón Latin American and Caribbean Animation Forum in Memoriam will take place at the same venue, featuring a comprehensive program of lectures and tutorials for projects in development, with the participation of renowned experts in the field who will deliver masterclasses on animation processes.
Lilian Morales, the head of the Industry Division at the Havana Film Festival, informed the media that the workshop, organized by the Production Department of the International School of Film and Television in San Antonio de los Baños, is a significant milestone in the global film industry in Cuba.
She emphasized the significance of presenting the Choral Postproduction Award at the grandest event in the seventh art in Cuba, where 60 films were nominated, with almost all of them being first-time operas. Seven of these were selected for the Choral Award.
The winner will receive funding to complete their fiction, documentary, or animated feature film produced in Latin America. (Source: Prensa Latina)
