Havana, February 12 (RHC) -– Radio Havana Cuba will add to the celebrations in the country for World Radio Day, proclaimed by UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, and dedicated this year to youth.

In an interview with the National Information Agency, AIN, the deputy director of this radio station, Pedro Martínez Pírez, said that young broadcasters will take part this Friday in the celebrations at the headquarters of the Cuban Association of the United Nations (ACNU) to mark the date.

Also serving as head of the ACNU Press Committee in Havana, Martínez Pírez explained that it will be an opportunity to analyse the message of Irina Bokova, Director General of UNESCO, on the inclusion of young people and dialogue between the generations.

Martínez Pírez highlighted that Cuba is also celebrating the anniversary for having been one of the founding members of the United Nations, the stage on which it has fought significant battles in defence of its sovereignty and independence, and gained several important diplomatic victories against the economic, commercial and financial blockade by the United States.

The prominent journalist of Radio Havana Cuba and ACNU official recalled that Youth and Innovation in radio are the central themes of the main celebration in the Swiss city of Geneva headquarters of the International Telecommunication Union and the European Office of the United Nations.
