Camaguey, May 25 (RHC) -– An investigation by the Comptroller's Office in eastern Camaguey province uncovered alleged corruption crimes at a local domestic trade company.

According to the report, the corruption crimes were committed by workers at the state-owned Empresa de Comercio Minorista in the Camaguey municipality of Minas, where the lack of control and poor internal organization allowed over 720,000 Cuban pesos to be lost in one of its branch units, called Las Terrazas.

The manager and accountant of the facility have been charged with corruption and fraud. The article particularly refers to an anonymous denunciation of the illegal dispensation of beer allocated to Las Terrazas in another facility called Santa Lucia beach, while another amount was sold on the black market.

The investigation was concluded in the last quarter of 2014, the article explains, and notes that no supervising officials at the company realized that bank deposits were below normal amounts. The probe into the case also exposed other irregularities, like alterations in the supply of products such as pork and sausages.

The report said that those held accountable for the illegal behavior will now face administrative or penal sanctions.
