International Course on Dengue Wraps Up in Havana

Havana, August 21 (RHC) -- Professionals from the UK, Panama, Brazil, the United States, Puerto Rico and Cuba, among other countries, have been updated on the current situation of dengue in an event which concludes today in Havana.

Based at the Pedro Kouri Institute of Tropical Medicine, collaborating center of the Pan American and World Health Organization for the Study of Dengue and its Vector, experts discussed clinical management of patients, control of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito and advances in research on the subject.

In workshops of the 14th International Dengue Course, participants discussed the development of antivirals, genetics of the individual, the virus and vector and new control tools, the influence of climate change and the confrontation of emergencies.

Physicians, virologists, immunologists, epidemiologists, health administrators, along with professors from prestigious national and international institutions are participated in the forum which included a parallel course on Mathematical Modeling for prediction of dengue.
