Havana, May 19 (RHC-PL) -- Representatives of Cuba and Spain are holding talks Thursday in Havana to discuss new business opportunities in the context of the island''s promotion of foreign investment.
The meeting is taking place during the 21st Session of the Cuban-Spanish Business Cooperation Committee.
According to a statement from the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, Spanish companies "have already shown interest in Cuban energy projects, infrastructure, transportation, telecommunications and construction."
The president of the Chamber of Commerce of Cuba, Orlando Hernandez, and the Secretary of State of Commerce in Spain, Jaime Garcia-Legaz, attended the opening ceremony.
The event will bring together the managers of food produce and industrial machinery companies, as well as those of the energy and construction, industry.
The forum is being held after the recent official visit by Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Garcia-Margallo, who was welcomed by Cuban President Raul Castro.
During his stay in Havana, the minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Kingdom of Spain stressed the positive bilateral relations between the two countries.
