The recent signing between Cuba and India of agreements in the area of telecommunications is a sign of the interest and willingness of both parties to continue strengthening bilateral relations, which date back more than six decades.

During the visit to that Asian nation of a Cuban delegation, led by First Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Communications Wilfredo Gonzalez Vidal, the digital transformation processes in the two countries and Cuba's opportunities in information technology were highlighted.

Already in April last year, Havana and New Delhi explored the possibilities of cooperation in training and capacity building for the deployment of infrastructure in Cuban rural areas.

Collaboration in telecommunications is in addition to that between the two nations in other areas such as agriculture and energy.

Last August, during his participation in South Africa in the Fifteenth BRICS Summit, Cuban President Miguel Díaz Canel met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whom he thanked for the loans granted by that state to develop renewable energies and rice cultivation.
