Women in Science

Cuban women have overcome obstacles and barriers, and today they are indispensable in all fields of science and their work is recognized worldwide.

International organizations such as UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, have awarded prestigious prizes to women scientists from the Greater Antilles for their research that has led to a better understanding and treatment of various diseases.

Cuban women have promoted medical research, engineering and biotechnology, which are now making outstanding progress in the Caribbean nation. They have also contributed to finding solutions to social and environmental challenges.

Thanks to their high level of preparation, perseverance and commitment to the health of the population, we owe the development of vaccines and innovative treatments for various diseases.

They were at the forefront of the fight against COVID 19, a disease that devastated the world and killed millions.

Thanks to their work, Cubans have been immunized against the coronavirus with their own vaccines. The talent and hand of women are in Abdala, Soberana 01, Soberana 02 and Soberana Plus, highly effective and safe.

Their presence in the medical sciences is essential. Overcoming the shortages imposed for more than six decades by the U.S. blockade, which has hit the health sector hard, Cuban women save countless lives every day.

They have also shared their knowledge with other peoples of the world, helping to raise health indices and improve the quality of life for many.

Women are a thriving force of the Revolution, which, with its social program for the benefit of all Cubans, has promoted the empowerment of this sector of the population, which today plays an essential role in various areas of life and especially in the advancement of science.
