Cuban singer-songwriter Liuba Maria Hevia has released a new music video for her song ‘Pasaba un angel’ on social networks. It features Dominican singer Maridalia Hernandez.

Composed by Hevia herself, ‘Pasaba un angel’ is included in her latest album Vidas Paralelas (Parallel Lives), which she has described as endearing because in it she performs duets with popular Cuban and foreign musicians.

Vidas Paralelas comprises 68 songs distributed in two double volumes in which Liuba shares songs of her own and other artists, who accompany her in the phonogram, among them Cubans Silvio Rodríguez, Pablo Milanés, Carlos Varela, Amaury Pérez, Raúl Torres, Kelvis Ochoa, Frank Delgado, Israel Rojas, Isaac Delgado, Gema Corredera, Beatriz Márquez, Ivette Cepeda, Omara Portuondo, Polito Ibañez and Ireno García.

In Vidas Paralelas, Liuba and Omara sing the tune ‘Veinte años’ or in English (Twenty Years), by another great Cuban female musician, singer-songwriter María Teresa Vera.

Other foreign musicians featured in Liuba María Hevia’s latest album include Spaniards Ana Belén, Luis Pastor and Javier Ruibal, also Dominicans Pavel Núñez, Victor Victor and José Antonio Rodríguez, Puerto Rican Danny Rivera, Argentine Georgina Hassan, Brazilian Maria Marta, Venezuelan Amaranta and Ecuadorian Maria Tejada, among other artists.

Liuba, who is this year celebrating 37 years of artistic life, has traveled through various genres such as trova, children’s music, tango, peasant music and other traditional Cuban and Latin American rhythms.

She has been awarded several prizes. At the age of 31, she was granted Cuba’s National Culture Award -- the highest distinction granted to artists, who make significant contributions to Cuban culture.

In 2012, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) named Liuba a Goodwill ambassador for her devoted and sustained work with children. And more recently, in February this year, Liuba María Hevia was awarded Cuba’s Artistic Excellence prize, in recognition of her being one of the best exponents of Cuban contemporary culture.
