Havana, January 29 (RHC)--The Havana-based Casa de las Americas, an institution devoted to cultural promotion and research in Latin America and the Caribbean, has joined other associations of artists and intellectuals from Cuba and across the region in condemning what it called the ‘provocation’ staged on January 27th at the headquarters of the Cuban Ministry of Culture, by a small group of counterrevolutionaries at the service of a foreign power.

Casa de las Americas’ Twitter account reported that the provocation staged by some 30 people in front of the Ministry seeks to manipulate, confuse public opinion and distort Cuba’s reality.

«What happened in front of the Cuban Ministry of Culture, on the eve of a new anniversary of the birth of José Martí, is more of the same destabilization attempts by Cuba enemies to create confusion», Casa de las Americas twitted.

The Association of Writers and Artists (UNEAC) and the Hermanos Saiz Association of Young Artists have also publicly rejected the incidents.

The website La Ventana of Casa de las Americas also posted a message addressed to Cuba friends, noting that over the past several months the US government has further tightened its blockade policy toward Cuba, taking it to an unprecedented height, which includes a fierce media campaign, aimed at discrediting Cuba.
