Casa de las Américas
Havana, May 9 (RHC)-- The president of Casa de las Americas, Abel Prieto, has reiterated the support of the Havana-based cultural center for peace and justice in Colombia.
Writing on Twitter, the Cuban intellectual attached importance to the growing international rejection of the repression perpetrated by the Duque government against the civilian population in the main cities.
Previously, he recalled that the peace agreements between the Colombian government and the FARC, reached in Havana in 2016, 'have been shamefully dismissed by a power that does not hesitate to continue killing and depriving millions of Colombians of their most basic rights.'
Casa de las Americas issued a statement to reject the police repression of peaceful demonstrations in Colombia, in a context marked by a national strike, called for by trade unions, student and native peoples' organizations to demand the end of neoliberal policies such as tax, health and pension reforms, and of violence and the full implementation of the Peace Agreement.
