Ron con Cola
Havana, September 9 (RHC)-- Cuba’s hip hop band Ron con Cola has launched a campaign against all forms of discrimination, disrespect and violence, and for love and peace among human beings.
As part of the campaign, the band released the single ‘Détente’ or in English ‘Stop’, which conveys a positive message, urging people on the island and beyond to join, unite to promote change and build better societies and a better world, free from discrimination and violence based on gender, religion or belief, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation and gender identity.
A message posted by Ron con cola on their official Facebook channel said the tune and the accompanying music video are part of a far broader, more encompassing campaign to promote love, respect for differences and non-violence.
Created in 2012 by students from Havana’s José Antonio Echeverría Higher Polytechnic Institute, led by young talent Frank Pedroso, Ron con Cola is an alternative music exponent that mixes different genres like funk, reggae, electronic music and jazz, with Cuban traditional and Afro-Cuban rhythms.
