Havana, November 5 (JIT) -- A total of 7 thousand people interested in serving as volunteers responded to the call for the First Junior Pan American Games of Cali 2021.

Of this large total from various regions of Colombia and abroad, some 3 thousand have been chosen to guarantee the success of the Games, which begin on November 23, two days before the official inauguration.

According to the contest website, the psychology department of the Universidad del Valle conducted the interviews of the candidates, who also underwent a virtual training process.   All of them are over 16 years old and will work in 27 areas related to logistics, accommodation, transportation, stage management, hydration, protocol, VIP lounges, support, communications and technical and sports assistance.

Assigned to venues in Cali, Yumbo, Jamundí, Palmira, Buga and Calima El Darién, the volunteers come in many cases from the city's bilingual schools, which is very valuable for accompanying some delegations.

All of them will have local transportation, food and official uniform, but if they come from other regions or abroad, they will assume their air transportation and lodging.

"Without volunteers, the Junior Pan American Games would not exist. Panam Sports, Cali, Valle del Cauca and all of Colombia are grateful and value the role of all volunteers," said Carolina Nuñez Chavarro, coordinator of this program in Cali 2021.
