Havana, December 13 (RHC)-- The First Secretary of the Party and President of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez received on Monday the head of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG), Morinari Watanabe, who is on a working visit to the island.
During the meeting, held at the Havana Convention Palace, the Cuban president thanked the Japanese federation member for his visit, which aims to promote the development of this sport in the largest of the Antilles.
Watanabe, for his part, affirmed that Cuba is his second homeland and highlighted the quality of its athletes, whom -he assured- he will continue to support.
The FIG president's stay in Cuba, his second this year, also included a visit to the national school of this sport, where he shared with directors, coaches and athletes.
Today, Tuesday, he will hold talks with Roberto León Richards, president of the Cuban Olympic Committee.
